Profile Summary

Tamaki ARAI (Ms.) is a patent attorney in the Chemical & Biotechnology Section, and specializes in biopharmaceuticals, antibody therapeutics, nucleic acid-based drugs, molecular biology, and chemistry. She earned her B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Tsukuba, followed by a Master’s and a Ph.D. from the University of Tokyo. As the top-performing graduate in her department, she was awarded the Ichiko Memorial Prize by the University of Tokyo in recognition of her academic excellence and the quality of her thesis. She then engaged in research and development of antibody therapeutics, nucleic acid-based drugs, and diagnostic reagents at a pharmaceutical company and a diagnostics development firm. After this industry experience, she joined the faculty of the Graduate School of Biomedical and Health Sciences at Hiroshima University as a Project Associate Professor, and was later promoted to Associate Professor. Having passed the Japanese Patent Attorney Examination in 2023, she joined Nakamura & Partners in 2025. Ms. Arai is a member of the Japan Patent Attorneys Association.
