Eiichiro Hino (Mr.) studied Life and Cognitive Sciences at the College of Arts and Sciences, University of Tokyo. Upon graduation, he passed the Japanese Bar Examination and attended the Legal Training and Research Institute. His main areas of practice are patent law, trademark law, design law, unfair competition prevention law, international trade law, IT law, dispute resolution, arbitration, litigation, and invalidation trials. He has particular expertise in the area of patent litigation, including a successful case before the Supreme Court of Japan, in which the court ruled for the first time in the field of pharmaceuticals that patent infringement was found based on the doctrine of equivalents. He also has extensive experience in conducting patent evaluations for patent pools (video compression, audio compression, optical discs, wireless power supply, etc.).
