Atsushi Hakoda (Mr.) is a patent attorney in the Chemical & Biotechnology Section specializing in organic chemistry, polymer chemistry, petroleum chemistry, medicinal chemistry and biochemistry. He graduated from the Faculty of Engineering at Kanazawa University where he received a B.S. in Chemistry. He then joined a chemical corporation where he worked as a researcher and patent attorney. Mr. Hakoda is an active member of the Japan Patent Attorneys Association and was chairman of its Overseas Cooperation Committee. Additionally, he has written articles and given lectures on IP-related subjects such as domestic and foreign patent drafting, differences between Japanese and EPC patent law and practice, and other topics concerned with pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and chemical inventions.
